Does the contractor charge a fee for any diagnostic tests? Although many contractors give free estimates, they may charge for diagnostic tests. These tests help determine what type of radon reduction system should be used and in some cases are necessary, especially if the contractor is unfamiliar with the type of home structure or the anticipated degree of difficulty. If diagnostic is needed we will have to charge for it, but most homes we mitigate we don’t have to do diagnostic testing. David McLean has a builder’s background with a firm knowledge of how homes are built old and new. We do give free estimates for homes in our area but we do have a small charge to travel to areas outside our normal service area, this fee is taken off the mitigation price.
